Dassault Systèmes grows in Mexico

Mexico. Dassault Systèmes presented its platform that transforms businesses, with the opinion of the leaders of the Mexican industry at the 3D Experiences Forum that took place on September 9. The event featured presentations and working sessions that demonstrated how companies of all sizes are innovating in their companies through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, leveraging technologies such as additive manufacturing, Big Data and the Internet of Things.

The Forum was led by dassault Systèmes Vice President for Mexico, Gunther Barajas. Barjas took his position in December 2015 and has spent his first nine months working on increasing Dassault Systèmes' presence in key market segments in Mexico including Energy and Process, Mining, Manufacturing and Consumer Goods.

Last year, Mexico made major contributions to the overall growth of Dassault Systèmes' North American business unit, which saw 14% growth in revenue, the highest growth rate of all the company's global operations. The North American region accounts for 31% of the company's total revenue.

"The 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers a combination of design, collaboration, simulation, optimization and information intelligence capabilities that have no competition in the industry. Next year we will be focused on working with our customers and partners in Mexico to help them meet their business goals and contribute to the country's economy and well-being."

Prior to joining Dassault Systèmes, Barajas most recently served in various executive positions at EPICOR Software. He previously worked at SAP, ProezaTI and J.D. Edwards. The executive studied a degree in Economics at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

In addition to its success with corporate clients, Mexico has played a central role in Dassault Systèmes' investments in academic partnerships. By the end of 2015, approximately five million students worldwide were using Dassault Systèmes technologies in academia, including 2.4 million SolidWorks student licenses.

Dassault Systèmes in collaboration with the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, signed an agreement with the Coordination of Technological and Polytechnic Universities (UTyP) in Mexico, to establish the network of PLM Competence Training Centers (PLMCC) on school campuses.

The centers were created to ensure that educators have adequate training and experience in using Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform, enabling them to pass on the knowledge acquired to a new generation of Mexican engineers and equip them with the skills required by employers. UTyP centers are used by 125 institutions where 100 teachers have already been trained to use Dassault Systèmes solutions.
