International. The association ZigBee Alliance presented its latest development, a new open standard for LED lighting control called ZigBee Light Link, which seeks to help manufacturers develop lighting and control products.
Such a standard provides the end user with a selection of interoperable lighting products controlled wirelessly for their homes and easy to use.
It also allows, according to the Association, that consumers add extra instruments in their home lighting network and that they can be controlled over the Internet through connected computers, tablets and smartphones.
Bob Heile, president of the ZigBee Alliance, said that for the development of the standard they had a large number of players in the lighting industry working together, seeking to help consumers achieve standards based on the convenience of wireless lighting control.
He added that "ZigBee Light Link will give consumers a simple way to control lighting from anywhere in their home, even if they're at work or on vacation."
GE, Greenwave Reality, OSRAM Sylvania and Philips were among the companies involved in the design of the new standard. Jos Bruins, chair of Philips' ZigBee Light Link working group, said: "This is an industrial use solution for the home market that is being vigorously tested and provides the simplicity consumers need.
Products built using ZigBee Light Link will be able to achieve the ZigBee Certified product seal. For more information on the standard click here.
