Latin America. Samsung and IBM announced during the Samsung Developer Conference, a new joint platform that leverages IBM Cloud resources and Samsung's AI and mobile offerings. The collaboration between the two companies brings together IBM's resources with the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem for today's enterprise customers.

Security platform powered by IBM Cloud, AI and 5G
The announcement is designed to bring together IBM's cloud innovations and Samsung's Galaxy device ecosystems, including Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy tablets and Galaxy watches. The goal is to help improve work environments for police officers, firefighters and other first responders.
According to the International Labour Organization, nearly 3 million deaths occur each year due to workplace accidents. Governments and businesses have a growing need to develop systems that monitor the vital signs of workers in remote or high-stress environments.
Built on the IBM Cloud, the new platform will allow customers to observe a worker's vital signs, including heart rate and physical activity, to determine if that person is in distress and automatically send them help.
For example, equipped with Samsung's Galaxy watches with biometric sensors and 5G-enabled Galaxy smartphones, lifeguard safety and well-being indicators will be shared on this platform in real time. The solution constantly monitors your vital signs and other key indicators to instantly alert emergency managers if there is a change in any of this data, which may indicate that the first responder could be in danger of suffering a heart attack, heat exhaustion, or any other life-threatening event that requires immediate attention. The platform transmits the data to emergency managers to provide insights for decision-making.
On this new platform, Samsung's high-speed Galaxy devices can now be used at scale almost anywhere. These devices can be customized to withstand harsh environments, such as those encountered by soldiers in the field, power plant employees working in adverse weather conditions, first responders responding to a disaster, or a worker at a mining plant.
Currently this solution is in a pilot plan with multiple police forces. The purpose is for it to provide real-time perspectives on the health and situational awareness of first responders to reduce operational risks in the field.
