Third STEM Day tested between Mexico and the United States

Latin America. On November 8, several schools participated in boxlight's 3rd Annual STEM Day 2018: From the United States: Georgia, Texas and California. The participating countries of Latin America were: Mexico, thanks to the alliance and special collaboration with Santillana Compartir México and two of its schools: the Gabriela Mistral School located in Tultitlán, State of Mexico and the Union of Mexico School of the CDMX. From Costa Rica the Nueva Esperanza School.

From Peru the Private Educational Institution June 26 and the Private Educational Institution San Rafael (within an event called: Peru with Science). From Dominican Republic Saint George School. All led by latin America's premier partners and specialists in educational technology, in the same order, AURUM, Interactive Learning, Soroban and Antillian Service.

In this third edition for the first time a simultaneous online and live experiment was carried out between the Gabriela Mistral School located in Tultitlán State of Mexico and the Jeannette City School Distric located in Pennsylvania USA. Students, teachers and principals participated in an experiment focused on the Variation of the Intensity of Light, Using Labdisc and its integrated light sensor, a collaborative and interactive lesson and experiment, the students shared the analysis of results and together they came to the same conclusions.

"The goal is for our students to become even more involved with the use of STEM-based technologies, the light intensity variation experiment was a success, as schools were able to interact in the same experiment in another language, interacting with students from other countries was very rewarding and the importance of reinforcing the language in students through real interaction as well, commented Adriana Reyes, Director of the Gabriela Mistral School.

For her part, Dafne Sandoval, a 2nd year high school student, said that "The experiment was very fun since we learned something new in a new way that we did not know, in addition to the fact that I had never seen this type of technology. I also loved the idea of holding a simultaneous class with a school in the United States, it was something surprising, new and very educational, he said.

"Our work plan and initiative is to have a laboratory focused on STEAM, reinforcing the English language with it. Thanks to STEM Day we can carry out lessons globally, we want to continue interacting and getting to know other schools, we want to continue growing hand in hand with Boxlight, concluded Adriana Reyes.
