Colombia. At the end of 2017, a new convention center was inaugurated in Bogotá Ágora, which stands out for its architecture and for having the latest in audiovisual technology in each of its meeting rooms, auditoriums and expos.
The Colombian company Construcciones Acústicas was in charge of the audiovisual implementation in the enclosure. AVI LATIONAMÉRICA spoke with Gonzalo Durán, CEO and founder of the company, who told details of this project:
AVI: How was the connection of Construcciones Acústicas to the Agora project?
Gonzalo Durán: Through a public call by the consortium in charge of the execution of the project, from which Construcciones Acústicas was favored thanks to the more than 30 years of experience in the sector and the technical and financial capacity of the company.
AVI: What equipment and AV systems did Construcciones Acústicas integrate into the Agora?
Gonzalo Durán: Construcciones Acústicas was in charge of the execution and integration of the audio and video system, as well as the control of these systems in the common areas, in the subdivisable rooms and in the great hall.
For this, 307 speakers were used in the common areas and 204 in the rooms, 2 matrix audio and video switches that add up to 176 inputs by 184 outputs, 14 video projection curtains, 10 48-port network switches and 20 24-port switches, 84 audio amplifiers, 4 control processors, 8 audio processors, 20 22-inch and 20 49-inch screens, 16 digital and analog audio converters, 123 audio and video input boxes, 94 audio patch panel, 18 control screens and 12 computers.
AVI: What are the factors that stand out from the integration in the Agora?
Gonzalo Durán: The complex fiber and copper network installed that guarantees complete connectivity. This, in addition to being redundant, that is, if any component of the network fails it has a backup that gives stability and reliability to the system, it supports the sending of independent signals to each of the speakers. Such a condition would be useful, for example, for the case in which Stands are located and you want to play specific content in each of them.
AVI: What challenges did you have to face during the development of the project?
Gonzalo Durán: The implementation of the entire audio, video, control and data distribution network, for which more than 150 thousand meters of cable were used, in addition to the complex programming and calibration of the system.
AVI: Between what dates was the project executed?
Gonzalo Durán: It started in September 2016 and today we are in final adjustments of recently added elements.
AVI: Could it be said that the Agora is the most modern convention center in Colombia in terms of AV technology?
Gonzalo Durán: It is indeed the most versatile and up-to-date convention center in technology in the country, since the most recent and advanced communications network techniques and technology were implemented. That is, all the spaces of the convention center have the highest specifications and resolutions of audio, video and control signals, and the most stable and efficient in the country.
