Light show with Chauvet accompanied concert by Zion and Lennox

International. After 18 years of touring and a handful of Top Ten hits, Puerto Rican Reggaeton duo Zion & Lennox still exhibit the power that has made them a defining force in their musical genre. This fervor was on full display in his hit music video Mi Tesoro, shot with Nicky Jam, at the Rosemont Theatre outside Chicago.

Support for the duo's high-performance performance was a host of aerial effects, stage sweeps, and intense lighting to the audience created by Juan Ocampo of High Frequency Productions. Using a collection of Rogue and STRIKE accessories from Chauvet Professional, Ocampo's platform featured 28 Rogue R2 Wash accessories, 16 Rogue RH1 hybrids and four STRIKE 4 multi-format, along with 16 Chauvet DJ Intimidator Hybrid 140SR, all supplied by High Frequency Productions. .

"This project came to us just two weeks before the show date. The V5 Group of Chicago contacted us about the show and put us in touch with the tour manager, Giovanni Ortiz. He sent us his Touring stage design and told us to replicate it as closely as possible. When we mentioned that we were going to use professional chauvet accessories, he approved it immediately, no questions asked," Ocampo said.

Following this plot and making some adjustments along the way, Ocampo created a richly textured, multi-layered light array that added a much-needed sense of depth to the 60-foot-wide Rosemont Theater stage. This dimensionality generated a sense of intimacy on stage, which reinforced the strong connection Zion and Lennox have with their fans.

In contrast to this background, the saturated colors of the Rogues energized the visual landscape on stage. "The Rogues have great vivid colors that stand out," Ocampo said.

Ocampo's design required 16 Rogue R2 washing accessories to be used on the lower frame for stage washing and crowd specials. A collection of four Rogue R2 Wash units was placed on the upstage ribbon directly in front of the LED video wall, mainly used to backlight artists. Another six Rogue R2 washes were flown, along with eight Rogue RH1 hybrid units and four Intimidator Hybrid 140SR units, in half-stage trusses, and used for downlighting, beam crossings, and special intensities.

"The crowd came looking to connect with Zion and Lennox, and hopefully our enlightenment contributed to that happening. The entire team of Glenn Ottenbacher, Garrett Vanderveen, Sabrina Seaman and Nick Manchenn deserves great recognition. In the end, our lighting helped give these talented artists a platform to showcase their talents," Ocampo said.
