Mapping Challenge illuminated Qoricancha Ruins in Peru

Peru. The seventh edition of Epson's Mapping Challenge Latin America together with its partner Dataton, was held in Cusco, Peru. On February 24, the Qoricancha Ruins, one of the iconic spaces of the city, were the chosen setting where more than 5 thousand people could appreciate the audiovisual artistic presentation that seeks to disseminate the history and architecture of the venues, enhanced by Epson's laser video projection technology.

Epson provided the 3LCD technology of its Epson Pro L line video projectors, created especially for large events, to make the walls of the pre-Hispanic ruins look like a digital work in motion. The history and majesty of the Inca culture were the protagonists of the projection designed by Piero Lora, the winning artist of the contest.

"At Epson Peru we are proud to be able, through the use of cutting-edge technology of our laser projectors, to share and revalue this millenary culture, achieving a wonderful show of images, lights and sound on the façade of such an important monument. Undoubtedly, the beautiful scenery of the Temple of Qoricancha dazzled thousands of national and foreign inhabitants and tourists in the city of Cusco, one of the Navels of the World," said Gibby Gambarini, Marketing and Communication Manager at the local subsidiary.

The "Mapping Challenge Latin America" is an international project carried out by Epson together with Dataton and other local partners, to show the work and talent of  mappers in the region. This itinerant initiative has already intervened facades in Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia and is soon to be completed. On March 22, the show will be held that will close this regional event, in Argentina.

The Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires will be the stage for its citizens and tourists to enjoy an incredible demonstration of lights outdoors. The structure of this impressive monument will allow a projection of 90 meters wide x 16 high. The theme chosen was "Argentine culture", which aims to celebrate the history, tradition and identity of the country, through a tribute to its most outstanding authors and artists.  In addition, the night will close with a show by Agapornis, a renowned musical group in the country, which will present an unpublished song.
