Colombia. Throughout the concert tour currently being carried out by the queen of pop, Madona, which has taken her to different countries in Asia, Europe, North and South America, and which this week arrives in Medellín, Colombia, she has been accompanied by the microphones and monitoring systems of the Sennheiser company.
The tour features six SKM 5200 microphones with MD 5005 capsules for choristers and guests and along with Madonna's vocal microphones, seven EM 3732-II wireless receivers are used. Fourteen wireless systems of the 2000 series are used for personal monitors, with 14 more for guitar systems. In addition, a trio of percussions uses plug-on transmitters, taking the overall wireless channel count at around 50.
According to monitor engineer Matt Napier, these teams have presented a flawless performance every night, being tested to the limit. He explained that "We're going through a new microphone every ten shows or so. But since the 5200 isn't a microphone designed for such abuse, I think it's standing extraordinarily well. Of course, we have a drawer full of Sennheiser spare parts!"
Plug-on transmitters are also used for the presentations, a very useful solution, because during the shows they do not have time to wire the musicians. It is a very clean way to use radio frequency. In addition, they have a wireless communications system, so there are probably up to 70 radio frequency channels in each show.
