Colombia. Two recognized sites in the city of Bogotá, such as the Torre Colpatria building and the El Retiro shopping center, were intervened in their architectural lighting by the Philips company as part of the campaign to prevent breast cancer in women that it developed during October.
Through this campaign, which installed pink LED lights on monuments and landmark buildings around the world, the company joined the commemoration of the fight against breast cancer, which is celebrated around the world every October 19 but this year was extended to the entire month.
And although the lighting of Philips monuments to support this campaign takes several years, it is the first time that buildings have been illuminated in Colombia. Now the El Retiro shopping center, the Colpatria Tower and the company's offices in this country, join other buildings in the region, such as the Angel of Independence in Mexico and the Cristo del Corcovado in Brazil.
As part of supporting the campaign for women, the company promotes the participation of its employees around the world, who reach 120,000, who donate money to support well-known research institutes on four continents that work with breast cancer.
According to Philips spokespersons, this campaign is reinforced by the research work that every year seeks to develop new medical equipment for women's health care, including mammographs, ultrasound, magnetic resonators and PET / CT with the support of information management systems.
