International. Factory-level sales of U.S. audio equipment components rose 10.9% during the first nine months of the year to reach revenue of $902.3 million, a report by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) revealed.
This increase in sales was mainly driven by the sale of speakers, with an increase of 14.3% in that area; electronic components also showed a significant increase with 6.5% growth for revenues of US$371.5 million. While the speakers reached revenues of US $ 530.8 million.
In the case of speakers, desktop speakers (Bookshelf) showed the largest increase, followed by soundbars in second place, and surround systems in third place.
On the other hand, in bookshelf-type devices, revenues grew by 72% to reach US$45.4 million, which implies an increase in profits of 15.7% per unit. Earnings in the soundbar segment came in at $145.7 million for an increase of 56.6%. Finally, in the case of surround speakers, the increase was 36.2% for US$64.7 million.
On the other hand, sales decreased in the case of custom speakers, mainly due to the low construction of new homes in the United States. In-wall speaker revenue fell 6.9% to $40.3 million and in-ceiling speakers fell 23% to $45 million.
