Discharge bulbs have been called to account, their time with humanity is ending as well as their work for lighting systems in nightclubs. For a long time, disco light sets have been dominated by discharge bulbs, these produce good luminosity but generate a lot of heat, are expensive and have a very limited lifespan, 2 thousand hours.

But the problem is over, day by day LED-based systems (Light-Emitting Diode) are replacing light bulbs. Currently, these can function as an RGB system. With the right electronic circuit, they can be connected to a DMX controller and used in combination with traditional systems, making the transition from one system to another easier, especially when their low cost and small size have allowed them to massify products that were previously exclusive for professional applications.

Different companies are introducing products based on RGB LED technology controlled via DMX. In reality, the discharge bulb is being replaced by RGB LED clusters, achieving an equivalent light intensity, with the advantages of LED and in many cases saving the color wheel. Additionally these decrease the internal temperature of the machine, avoiding the biggest cause of failures in the current circuits of lights in the clubs, the high temperature.

Now we find on the market moving heads, scanners, reflectors, strober and the entire range of machines imaginable for shows. There is still a lot of progress to be made (price decrease and increase in intensity), but sure, they will soon be the norm.
