Sony receives prize in technology competition

Japan. This renowned Japanese manufacturer of equipment for video and photography, among others, received in the Ceatec 2007 contest the award for the flattest TV, for its equipment with electroluminescent screen (OEL), which also comes with a thickness of only three millimeters, 50 times thinner than most televisions with a glass screen quido (LCD); these devices are already four times thinner than cathode tube devices, if you compare televisions of the same screen size.

According to a press material disseminated by the manufacturer, the thinness of this screen is due to the fact that OEL technology does not require backlighting, unlike plasma or LDC systems, since it is illuminated by electric current to offer an image with an unparalleled contrast.
