Latin America. Epson has updated its Environmental Vision 2050, a statement of the company's 2050 environmental protection goals, in order to achieve sustainability and enrich communities. Epson will become carbon negative and eliminate the use of subsurface resources by 2050.
Epson was founded in 1942 in Suwa, a city located in a place of great natural wealth such as Nagano, Japan. Harmonious coexistence with the communities in which we operate has always been a pillar of the company. Even as our operations expanded around the world, our culture of respect for the environment has never been broken and we have always had ambitious goals to protect the environment. Epson established the Environmental Vision 2050 in 2008 and decided to update it in 2018 to realign it with the changing operating environment.
This latest update is made as part of the Epson 25 Renewed corporate vision that sets the company's goal of "achieving sustainability and enriching communities." Specifically, we have set targets that clearly show our commitment to addressing society's major issues in terms of decarbonisation and resource recycling, and we will make concrete efforts to achieve those goals.

The Epson 25 Renewed corporate vision, established on March 18, 2021, includes the Environmental Vision 2050. In line with this vision, Epson will implement resource decarbonization and recycling programs, offer products and services that lessen the impact on the environment, and develop environmental technology.
Over the next ten years, Epson plans to use and invest 100 billion yen in decarbonization, resource recycling and the development of environmental technologies. Epson believes these efforts will help reduce more than two million tons of greenhouse gas emissions in its supply chain. Apart from this investment of 100 billion yen, Epson will concentrate its management resources on the development of products and services that reduce the environmental impact of our customers.
Likewise, Epson has decided that the establishments that its Group has around the world will cover the electricity needs with 100% renewable energy sources (renewable energy) by 2023.
