Nexxis digital now supports 3D images

barcoLatin America. Hospitals with Nexxis OR-over-IP now have access to high-quality 3D images for their interventional surgeries. Barco has enhanced Nexxis to display and share 3D images in the operating room. A new 3D surgical display can be integrated into new and existing Nexxis configurations.

Why 3D in the operating room?
Complex and minimally invasive surgical interventions will typically benefit from 3D visualization and imaging. Minimally invasive surgeries are currently performed primarily with a 2D endoscopic camera, leaving the surgeon with limited immediate depth perception. 3D images solve this problem.

Since surgical equipment depends on the camera, display(s), and real-time quality of the video stream, it is critical that the same guaranteed video performance capabilities are maintained in a Nexxis installation when integrating a 3D display into the system. .

Maximum usability and flexibility
With the Nexxis 1.17 update, all new and existing Nexxis configurations are updated to support 3D images. Until today, 3D sources could not be integrated into digital operating rooms. Nexxis 1.17 solves this in a flexible way: 3D fonts come with all the possibilities traditionally available for 2D fonts, so operating room staff can use them in the same way they are used to. For example, they share their images between operating rooms and can also be transmitted or recorded.

Nexxis also automatically switches between 2D and 3D modes, adapting the images to the capabilities of each screen in the operating room. Therefore, the operating room staff has the most appropriate formats.

Easy connectivity with the new 3D surgical display
Along with the update, Barco also launches a new 3D and 4K surgical display, which hospitals can effortlessly connect with its Nexxis integration thanks to a built-in set-top box.

The MDSC-8232 M3D display is not limited to 3D endoscopic interventions alone, as it can also display 2D images of excellent quality. When used in 3D mode, the surgical team can work with a large viewing area and comfortable depth perception. The display offers high color accuracy, detailed images thanks to its 4K resolution and near-zero latency for optimal hand-eye coordination.
