Audio-Technica presented ES954 pendant matrix microphone

Latin America. An ideal and affordable solution for meeting rooms, conference rooms and other meeting spaces, is the one just presented by the company Audio-Technica with the ES954 hanging matrix microphone.

When controlled with Audio-Technica's ATDM-0604 Digital SmartMixer digital mixer, the four-capsule array microphone offers 360° coverage through hypercardioid or digital cardioid outputs that can be oriented horizontally and tilted vertically.

Intended primarily for video conferencing applications, the ES954 micro can be used individually or in groups to capture the voice of all the people speaking in a room, with the number of channels limited only by the capacity of the mixer or digital signal processor (DSP) that controls the system.

When used with the ATDM-0604 Digital SmartMixer digital mixer, the intuitive graphical interface allows you to control the width and orientation of each polar pattern, which can be directed in 30-degree increments, with a tilt function to suit different ceiling heights or to seated/standing users.

The ES954 pendant matrix microphone features a fixed 1.2 m cable with locking washer that allows you to easily adjust the height of the microphone. UniGuard RFI protection technology that offers outstanding rejection of radio frequency interference. The package includes a Plenum-rated AT8554 ceiling mount bracket with RJ45 connectors and snap-on terminals for easy and safe mounting.

The ES954 matrix microphone connects to the mixer with a pair of standard shielded Cat 5 cables. Two breakout cables are included to connect the four channels, plus an LED conductor, to the mixer. A 360-degree red/green light ring (LED) controlled by integrated logic provides a clear indication of the silence state of the matrix.

A simple installation can include a single ES954 matrix microphone in the center of a conference table configured from a mixer to provide coverage across four identical quadrants. If used in conjunction with a door on each microphone channel, the system can be configured to automatically follow the person as they move around the room.

Other seating arrangements can be adjusted by reorienting each of the four microphone patterns in the mixer software. The various seating configurations and associated coverage patterns can be saved as presets in the mixer for quick recovery.

In larger rooms, multiple ES954 matrix microphones can be installed—for example, one at each end of a long conference table—and the polar patterns of the different microphones can be oriented, enlarged, or narrowed accordingly.
