Bose released Array Tool software for acoustic design

Latin America. Bose announced the availability of Array Tool, a new free software created to assist professionals in the audiovisual industry in the design of sound systems. The program's intuitive interface and streamlined workflow allow users to start working immediately, with minimal pre-training.

"It was important to us that the learning curve was almost immediate," says Trevor Donarski, Product Line Manager at Bose Professional. "It was made to help system designers identify the optimal and ideal position of the speakers with minimal effort and in less time. Our goal was to design a tool that was familiar and easy to use. And we'll build on that simplicity in every subsequent update."

The Bose Array Tool solution offers extensive control over a variety of variables, such as space dimensions, budget or model constraints, and speaker placement. Thanks to the field-direct calculation engine, the engineers in charge of the sound design can quickly and easily test different speaker models, locations and formations until they find the arrangement that best suits the acoustic needs of the enclosure.

The software also includes various plotting tools to dynamically manipulate the placement of the speakers and the surface of the spaces, until obtaining an accurate and near real-time visualization of the coverage effect that the system will have. The list of equipment, rigging, and array information can be easily exported to bring that virtual design to reality.

"We know that quick or poorly informed estimates can represent several hours of wasted time for system designers," Donarski adds. "Bose Array Tool lessens that burden by allowing them to test various coverage and SPL (Sound Pressure Level) options for a venue with a specific budget, and deliver really fast proposals."

Version 1.0 of the software includes designs based on the Panaray MSA12X speakers. Future versions will add support for other Bose Professional speaker models.
