During the first half of 2018 the political issue in Latin America has been moving. Between fairly polarized presidential elections and political problems of different governments, business, investment and the economy in general have had a slow march, a situation from which the audiovisual industry has not been exempt.
The resignation of Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski in March, the elections of new presidents Iván Duque of Colombia in June and Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico in July, as well as the capture of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, former president of Brazil and one of the favorites for that country's presidential elections in October, and without going into detail about the situation in Venezuela, they are just some examples of the panorama in the region in recent months.
But the second half begins with a more encouraging outlook. While Mexico and Colombia already have clarity on the political situation with their new governments and in Peru the political issue has calmed down, it is time to reactivate investments.
I have had the opportunity to speak with several distributors and AV integrators in recent days, who have expressed their positive expectations for the second part of the year, since there are many projects that were stopped in Latin America waiting for definitions in political matters.
As always, after the storm comes calm and it is time for the audiovisual industry to resume the path of growth it has had during the last years in this always convulsed but exciting Latin America.
