Mexico stands out as a strategic market for Data Centers

Mexico. The data center market will grow 30% by 2020, according to the Vertiv survey. And global consulting firm AMI Partners says nearly 1.7 million small businesses will acquire their first data center solutions by 2022.

According to the company Comstor, in this panorama Mexico stands out as a strategic market for Data Centers, since Latin America represents 25% of the turnover in Data Center.

That information comes from two distinct sources that highlight the growth in demand for the data center service around the world. This means that companies, which offer this type of storage, have the opportunity to increase their market share.

By being specialists in what they do, these companies manage to provide more information to their customers of some benefits, such as the reduction of internal costs with electrical energy for the cooling of machines and 27x7 monitoring, different from what can happen in companies that close after business hours, in addition to frequent maintenance, security backups in the case of disaster recovery, among other points that compensate for the contracting of the service instead of having the physical Data Center itself in the work environment.

Mexico stands out in Latin America
Some countries stand out as strategic markets for data centers, such as Mexico, a reference for the Latin American market, which represents 25.8% of the account of this type of service during 2016, as shown by the data center services market in Latin America, Forecast for 2021.

The survey reports that the account of that market in LA during 2016 was $2.87 trillion and that the projections for 2021 are $4.37 trillion. Among the countries of Latin America, we see that Brazil had representativeness in the sector, responsible for 47.6% of that account in 2016, in addition to Chile (8.5%), Colombia (7.6%), Argentina (6.7%) and Peru (3.8%).

Mexico, beyond its strategic geographical position, offers other positive points to receive investments in the Data Center sector, such as public policies in favor of innovation, fairer taxes for the areas of technology that need to be developed in the country, cheaper labor costs and proximity to the culture of the United States, as well as a similar schedule, improving the flow of business during business hours.

In addition, a generation of IT specialists is being formed in different technological poles in the country, which have conglomerates of multinational companies that require local collaborators.

To have greater global participation in the Data Center market, companies specialized in this sector need to reinvent themselves to respond to the needs of the market. For example, adding value in services is a requirement that requires this type of storage.

Expanding cloud services, as well as new Internet of Things tools, beyond digitalization, are some of the expected options that are qualified by companies that outsource their data center.

A survey conducted during the DCD congress, conducted in September 2016 in Mexico City, showed that companies that operate with Data Center in the country, 11% are thinking about building or expanding their storage areas. Another 35% intend to modernize their structure with investments in machines and finally, 30% are planning to invest in containers.
