Winter Olympics feature the latest in AV technology

International. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies; as well as infrastructure for the recording and transmission of the competitions of the Winter Olympic Games XXIII and Paralympic Winter Games XXII, in PeyongChang (South Korea), have the latest in audiovisual technology thanks to the support of Panasonic.

The company has been a TOP1 sponsor of the Winter Olympics since 1988, when they were held in Calgary (Canada), and with the 2018 edition, in PyeongChang, it will be three decades of contributing to the event with cutting-edge AV technology.

On this occasion, the Japanese company will provide around 80 high-brightness projectors (30,000 lumens) PT-RZ31K/RQ32K, 2ME2 grade switchers for live transmission AV-HS6000, in addition to a complete set of audiovisual systems for the Olympic stadium, which will support the assembly of the opening and closing ceremonies. 42 giant LED screens and video systems will also be installed in the venues where the competitions will take place, resulting in a total area of 1,640m2 of screens.

In addition, Panasonic has returned to the market of high-end professional audio systems, and has prepared solutions for this edition of the Winter Olympic Games. These are the RAMSA speakers of linear arrangement, which will sound the ski jumping and snowboard spaces, the Yongpyong enclosure for alpine skiing and the Gangneung Olympic Park.

Additionally, it is planned to install a multi-video distribution system and 360º cameras in the main venue, as a test towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The transmission system of Panasonic's P2HD cameras has been chosen as the official video recording equipment for PyeongChang 2018. The company will deliver a large amount of equipment for transmission, including the AJ-PX5000G camera with AVC-ULTRA3 codec to the International Broadcasting Center (IBC), where press from around the world gathers to cover the event.

With PyeongChang 2018, Panasonic's digital technology will be the official recording format for the Olympic Games for the 13th time in a row, the first time being in Barcelona 1992.

Panasonic's support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games continues, to share the passion and excitement of one of the world's biggest sporting events and support its operation as a TOP sponsor through cutting-edge products, solutions and technology.
