Multimedia Video Announced Skype as a Service on Azure

Mexico. Videxio announced that it will use the Microsoft Azure Cloud as a platform for its new video conferencing service. The service allows users of dedicated video conferencing devices to join Skype meetings and ensures seamless cross-platform communication in a Skype for Business environment.

As thousands of companies deploy Skype for Business as their primary collaboration platform, many are facing the challenge of system interoperability with their existing video conferencing devices from vendors such as Cisco, Polycom, Huawei, and others. In addition, many companies have seen the need for the connection to be made within the native user experience that their employees are familiar with.

The new solution ensures that both Skype and users of video conferencing systems maintain their native meeting and calling experiences. A Skype user organizes a Skype meeting, and a video conferencing system user joins a video call. Collaborators can also connect directly point-to-point from one technology to another, without having to schedule a meeting. Since the meeting experience is maintained across all technologies, users won't need to learn something new or have to worry about how to connect to the meeting.

"The volume of Skype for Business users connecting with third-party video systems, browsers and voice participants on the Videxio service has increased by a factor of 10 over the past two years. We believe that this significant growth is a clear validation of the importance of removing obstacles to interoperability. Our new enhanced offering will enable customers to effectively leverage their existing investments and extend the life of their chosen solutions," commented Tom-Erik Lia, CEO Videxio.

Videxio has worked closely with its technology partner, Pexip, to realize the VTC Gateway as a service on Microsoft Azure.

"The combination of Pexip, certified for Skype for Business Server, deployed on Azure, and Videxio's calling platform is a winning combination. Together, the solution facilitates the integration and consumption of previously incompatible technologies. We are excited about the possibility of this being available on the market in the near future," said Åsmund O. Fodstad, CEO of Pexip.

Multimedia Video is Videxio's partner in Mexico and offers all the infrastructure for SMEs and large corporations that need visual, digital and virtual communication based on the cloud.
