Boxlight wins international award

International. Boxlight Mimio's Labdisc Portable STEM Lab has been named the best of the Show by Tech & Learning in the UK. The announcement was made after the end of the BETT 2017 fair.

The Boxlight Labdisc is an all-in-one laboratory, complete equipment that fits in the palm of your hand. It is the only solution for K-12 science with up to 14 wireless sensors integrated into a single compact device, revolutionizing science in terms of convenience, cost and portability.

Labdisc's large number of sensors and portability opens the door to research-based learning vital in STEM education in various fields of science, including: biology, chemistry, physics, environment and geography.

The products were evaluated based on 5 criteria:

  • Ease of Use/Maintenance
  • Richness/Relevance in the Feature Set
  • Value for Students/Teachers
  • Versatility
  • Original

"Labdisc's sensors are the gold standard when comparing features such as display, buttons, memory and long battery life against less robust competitors – making independent data collection possible," said Mark Elliott, CEO of Boxlight.

One of the judges agreed, stating, "truly innovative, robust, perfectly sized scientific laboratory to hold in hand all the time along with most devices such as the tablet. Built with up to 14 sensors that measure – sound and motion up to air pressure and distance – all these in four different versions covering both general science, physics, biochemistry or the environment, supplying all key teaching stages.

Boxlight's Labdisc also includes unique features such as GPS, which takes advantage of it to plot sensor values with a layer on a Google Maps map and offers a robust battery that offers more than 150 hours of duration. This helps students connect and engage with science anywhere. It also serves as an ideal solution for long-term experiments such as plant growth, climate change and pollution.
