Casio projectors get sustainability recognition

Mexico. Casio reported that five of its LampFree projectors, from the new Core and Advanced lines, have obtained the international TCO Certified certification, which recognizes the degree of sustainability in IT products worldwide. The certification is awarded by TCO Development, a non-profit organization based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Casio's five teams meet the criteria expressed in the recent version of the TCO Certified Projectors 2.0 evaluation, among which the life cycle of the product in relation to the environment, its ergonomic design, characteristics in favor of safety and health, as well as socially responsible manufacturing processes are qualified.

To earn TCO Certified recognition, projectors must undergo rigorous multi-factor verification at all phases of the product lifecycle, including the socially responsible manufacturing process; energy safety and efficiency during use; and the elimination or reduction of hazardous substances and responsible handling at the end of their useful life.

The TCO Certified Projectors 2.0 evaluation criteria also require products to meet high levels of image display quality and to feature an Eco Mode feature to consume less power and reduce acoustic noise. In addition, both the projector and any of its components must be free of mercury or other hazardous substances, while the amount of mercury used in the lamp must be declared.

Since 2010, Casio has been using a Hybrid Laser-LED light source in all its projector models, completely eliminating the use of mercury-containing lamps. These five Casio models, launched in 2016, are the first lampless projectors to earn the TCO Certified label.

According to Futuresource Consulting Ltd., Casio has a global market share of 73%* in the category of solid-state light source (SSI) projectors, with brightness of 2,500 lumens or more, features sufficient for image display applications in fully lit rooms.

Casio LampFree projectors are available in the local market through Casio Mexico's distribution channel, composed of wholesalers CVA (Comercializadora de Valor Agregado) and CT Internacional del Noroeste; in addition to the integrators Nolasco Audio & Video (N.L.), Bluebytes Tecnología Fiable (Yuc.), Audiovisuales de León (Gto.), Corporación Multimedia y Audiovisual (Cd. México), JSP Soluciones (N.L.) and Inovat Technology (Cd. México).
