Undoubtedly, the growth of the audiovisual industry in Latin America has been marked by better access to technology, greater technical knowledge and, above all, the human development of the region.
The industry's positive expectations for growth reflected in the latest InfoComm reports, as well as those expressed by manufacturers and distributors, are consistent with the findings of the latest Human Development Report 2013, conducted by the United Nations Development Programme and entitled The Rise of the South: Human Progress in a Diverse World.
It argues that Brazil, Chile and Mexico are considered pioneers in the three drivers of development: greater proactivity of the State in development policies, greater integration with global markets and exemplary innovation in social policies. Likewise, these countries are the main markets for the AV industry in the region.
Another aspect that the report points out, and that agrees with what was expressed by the exhibitors of the latest version of TecnoMultimedia InfoComm Colombia 2012, is related to imports and access to technology. He argues that in the last five years US exports to OECD member countries increased by 20%, while exports to Latin America and the Caribbean increased by more than 50%.
The report concludes with a phrase that all actors in the audiovisual industry must always keep in mind when negotiating their equipment, technologies, systems and services with companies from industrialized countries: "The South needs the North, but increasingly, the North also needs the South."
