United States. McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas partnered with Four Winds Interactive to create its own digital signage system and install it in the airport's new terminal.
Terminal 3 has, among other things, hundreds of digital notices to help passengers stay informed and manage their trips. Among the devices available are interactive airport directories and video walls at all boarding gates.
These two-sided video walls have six screens on each side to reach a size of 15 feet, about 5 meters. Among the information provided to passengers through these devices are real-time flight data, details about Las Vegas such as weather status and tourist sites of destinations.
Another crucial element in the installation was the incorporation of a location system, with an emphasis on the use of 3D technology to create customized maps, with more than 1500 paths designed to help visitors locate themselves inside the air terminal, pointing out food areas, shops, airline lounges, among other airport services.
The main attraction of this system is that it generates an animated visual route, with step-by-step directions that can be sent to a smartphone via QR codes.
This new terminal is part of a project of the Clark County Department of Aviation valued at US $ 2,400 million, which seeks to offer a better service to the 41 million travelers who use this airport.
