Mexico. After a research process of eight months, six months of implementation and 33 million Mexican pesos invested, 700 restaurants in Mexico reduced their CO2 emissions by about 3,800 tons, consuming 5,633,800 Kwh, less per year.
This is the result of a process that sought sustainability in the restaurants of Alsea, operator of fast food, cafeterias and casual food in Latin America, which represents brands such as Domino's Pizza, Starbucks, Burger King, Chili's, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Pei Wei Asian Diner and Italianni's.
The project, developed by the Mexican office of the Philips company, achieved a 65% reduction in energy consumption for lighting and 13% overall. The type of LED lighting was designed according to the needs of each restaurant.
In total, they installed 28,800 lamps with LED technology, of which more than 20,880 are Master LED lamps replacing incandescent and halogen lamps and more than 8,000 Fortimo LED systems for replacing fluorescent systems.
Fabián Gosselin, CEO of Alsea, commented that "we are committed to the environment and the efficient use of natural resources, we support actions in favor of sustainability that minimize the environmental impact generated by our operations."
With this intervention, Alsea achieved the reduction of electricity load in energy producing plants, the reduction of investment in the creation of new plants, provide quality lighting to improve well-being and productivity, economic savings and lower the ecological footprint and climate change.
