International. CEDIA revealed the results of its annual marketing survey on the state of the electronic systems industry for 2009, which indicate that the global economic crisis had a significant effect on the sector during that year.

The results indicate that gross revenue margin increased by 7% from 2007 to 2009, although profit margin decreased from 6.8% to 3.5%. It was also reported that the average cost of the projects carried out had a slight decrease to stand at US $ 32,000 as well as the jobs in the sector, which fell only 5%. The approximate profit was US$1,107,000 per company.

The best-selling segments were audiovisual venues, home theaters and the distribution of audio/video systems.

"The marketing survey is a useful tool for CEDIA partner companies, as it facilitates decision-making based on the comparison of their own business with industry trends," explained Utz Baldwin, CEO of the Association. These results are of relevance to manufacturers, distributors, consultants, market analysts and observers of the electronics industry, allowing them to analyze opportunities for the development of their companies.
