By 2023, 47% of companies in Latam will have IoT

Latin America. Colombia is currently facing different changes in economy, politics, and technology, the latter is one of the sectors that has taken more weight. The government has set itself the goal of achieving 85% connectivity throughout the country.

It is worth noting that today 56.5% of households have an internet connection, in the capitals that percentage is 66.5% and for rural centers it reaches 23.8%, according to DANE figures.

Digital acceleration and appropriation continues to increase, and the use of new technologies will be consolidated alongside Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine communication (M2M). Carlos Valenciano, general manager of Alai Secure, explains how "the main function of this communication is, on the one hand, to collect information for monitoring, control, analysis and subsequent decision making, and on the other, the sending of orders for remote control of devices remotely".

Machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) quickly connect mission-critical devices, critical for sectors such as health, private security, state security and emergency services. It is estimated that in the year 47% of companies in Latin America are in the process of implementing some Internet of Things solution.

Knowing the need of the different sectors with this technology, Alai Secure arrives in Colombia, a company, of Spanish origin, that offers services through the SUMA Mobile Services Platform, in all the countries in which it is present in Latin America. Due to its extensive experience in the management of mission-critical communications, Alai has become the first Telco Security M2M/IoT Operator in the market.

In the country, it begins offering service and providing innovative M2M/IoT functionalities in verticals such as:

· Private security or social health -where human lives are at stake and it is critical to guarantee communications-
· The elevator/lift industry or the GPS/tracking of people or goods

As well as in other verticals in which inventory and data security is also vital such as:

· Vending machines
· Utilities, PoS (Point of Sales)
· PoC (Push to talk over Cellular)
· Consumption control
· Metering
· Fleet Management

The arrival of machine-to-machine communication means an opportunity for those companies, corporations, public administrations and for the world of industry 4.0 itself:

· Launch new and innovative services
· Optimize your operational processes
· Be prepared for the arrival of 5G, both in cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Rionegro, Sogamoso and Duitama, which are part of a global alliance of smart cities that seek to promote a better city model through sustainable mobility, connectivity and cybersecurity, as in the rest of the regions of the country and eminently agricultural areas.

Cybersecurity, an alarming aspect in Colombia and the world
According to figures from the Cyber Center of the National Police, from January to October 2022, 54,121 cyberattacks were registered, reflecting the complexity and increase of the problem. The recent attacks on health and communications companies add to the 54,121 reports of cyberattacks in 2022.

"From the first moment, Telco Security has been our company philosophy and our differential value compared to large mobile operators. Guaranteeing security in communications against malicious attacks by third parties is critical to operate the service with guarantees and preserve all confidential information of the operation of the service, of our subscribers, "says Valenciano of Alai Secure.

In addition, it arrives in the country with an eSim Multicarrier or virtual card a SIM card that is integrated into a mobile device and allows you to connect to any compatible operator. It works in the same way as a traditional SIM, but does not require a physical card to be used.
