They install videowall of 44 meters with Christie technology

christie, videowallInternational. The Conmy Hall, a historic event space used by the United States Government, has undergone a profound transformation, consisting of the installation of a gigantic Christie CorePlus LED video wall.

Integrated and installed by Quince Imaging, under the direction of The Bridge Group, the 44-meter by 4-meter video wall works with a Christie Spyder X80 image processor, and a set of Christie Pandoras Box solutions to manage content.

"Conmy Hall was built in 1934 as an equestrian facility for the use of General George Patton," says Cathy Arevian, CEO and Executive Director of The Bridge Group. "Over time, the cavalry corps was eliminated and the enclosure became, first a gymnasium, and later an interior space for ceremonies. Today it is the main center of representations of the U.S. Army, being used for presidential functions and military ceremonies, but also for meetings and meetings of government agencies and strategy sessions. With seating for 1200 people, the Hall also hosts concerts by military bands and productions of the Washington Military District, events that are open to the public."

Prior to its restoration, the space had two screens for projections and large vinyls with printed maps for agency meetings and strategy sessions. "New needs and technological advances were making equipment and processes obsolete," explains Arevian. "The celebration of several events with large-format rental equipment and projections made it clear that the versatility offered by these solutions justified the investment required by their permanent installation."

The project started in 2015. Several technologies and configurations were considered. "We knew the solutions had to be state-of-the-art and configurable to adapt to the diverse and changing demands of the space," said Scott Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and co-founder of Quince Imaging.

The Bridge Group, Quince Imaging and project manager VCB Events LLC designed and installed a huge Christie CorePlus LED video wall of 44 meters by 4 and 12 million pixels, which covers the length of space. The videowall is divided into three sections: a central matrix of 8 meters and one on each side of 18 meters. The central matrix functions, in turn, as a retractable input that, suspended on a moving element, is removed at the touch of a button.

Christie Pandoras Box and Spyder X80 to manage 12 million pixels
Two Pandoras Box servers and a Christie Pandoras Box manager manage the Christie CorePlus LED video wall. "Pandoras Box manages the huge video wall, with its 12 million pixels. It also manages the buttons and contains the wireframes and templates that allow the user to choose one of the twelve possibilities of type of visualization of the videowall, "explains Williams. "To configure these solutions we used the Pandoras Box Widget Designer."

"The result is magnificent: a versatile and fully configurable LED display, which offers an immersive experience and functions as an extraordinary backdrop for military ceremonies," Arevian enthuses. "The customer is impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the images and the ability to have a large number of standard templates, pre-programmed and ready to issue instantly."
