Mexico. For the third consecutive year, Christie has been a technology partner of the Guadalajara light festival GDLUZ, which has recently been held in the Mexican city of the same name.
The festival, organized by the company Alteacorp on the occasion of the celebration of the 477th anniversary of the founding of the city in partnership with the local government, took place in the historic center of the city, with 40 attractions inspired by light, consolidating itself as the largest night festival in Mexico. The Tapatia community was able to enjoy video mappings, multimedia shows, interactive projections, live music, artistic installations and performance attended by more than 1,100,000 attendees in four days.
One of the main attractions of the festival was a projection mapping at the Cabañas Institute. A 3DLP® Christie Boxer 4K30 projector with 30,000 lumens center and 4K resolution was used here. We chose this equipment for its resolution and power, says Carlos Márquez, Projection Director of Alteacorp. It is an excellent projector, easy to use and very powerful. In my opinion it is one of Christie's crown jewels, he adds.
Another of the strong points of the show was an installation in which users interacted with a video mapping, for which a Christie Crimson WU25 projector of 3DLP laser technology, WUXGA resolution and 25,000 lumens center was used. "In this case, we opted for this machine because of its sharpness and the type of short shot," Márquez said. "And it is that a feature that was very important to achieve this interactive project was that the projector allows to reduce the projection area dynamically. With this feature we were able to concentrate the projection in a very short space."
To manage these projections, Alteacorp made use of the Christie Pandoras Box 6.0 media server, specifically a Pandoras Box Manager and a Pandoras Box Player. Márquez recalled: "In the case of mapping at the Cabañas Institute, Pandoras Box was the key piece of the project, since with this tool we synchronized lighting, audio, video and pyrotechnics. In the interactive project, we used a Pandoras Box Player to capture the video game from a second system."
The truth is that the projection director of Alteacorp is delighted with Christie's role as GDLUZ's technology partner. "The truth is that we are very pleased to have Christie at our festival, as he brings security and certainty to the projects, as well as a high visual impact. And of course my experience with Christie technology over the last seven years has been very good. The combination of Christie projectors and Pandoras Box servers is excellent for this type of event."
