The company specialized in design and development, T-Cuento, is dedicated to studying the behavior of people in stores and franchises, they observe how much time they spend touring the establishment, the moment they decide on a product and buy it, among other actions.
To help in his research he has created several devices, among which is the SmartyMat, which allows them to perform arithmetic calculations based on their sensors, which are activated by pressure when the person stands on it and walks.
The carpet can distinguish the exits from the entrances, but it also provides information about the permanence of the person in the trade and the time it takes the commercial transaction. This device is capable of providing the ratio of people who enter the store, with respect to those who only pass through the street, the number of customers served by each employee, the percentage of customers who make a purchase and data like that, which favor the profitability of the store.
As if all this were not enough, it can also evaluate the age of the people who enter and their sex, with a percentage of successes of 75%. These functions are linked to the different centers of gravity that SmartyMat has.
The dimensions of the carpet are relatively small, 70×90 centimeters and can be customized to the client's liking, placing the company logo or another design of choice.
SmartyMats have been applied in France, Germany, Spain for a long time with very good results. Surely it will not be the only utility of these smart carpets and soon we can count on them in home automation.
