Recently I had the opportunity to learn about the experience of a couple of rental companies that have done a collaborative work. One of them, located in Colombia, is responsible for providing audiovisual support to the events of a North American society when they are held in Latin America.
To achieve this, it has had to seek the support of colleagues in the region and thus avoid moving personnel and equipment from its headquarters to other countries. Although this situation has nothing out of the ordinary, strangely it rarely occurs within the companies of the Latin audiovisual industry.
Consulting with other professionals in the region, explanations for why these links are rarely established were diverse, but two were the most common. The first, because of the distrust that can be generated by allowing a competing company to access information with which customers can be 'failed'. The second, due to the lack of professionalism and vision of many companies in the sector.
The case mentioned initially has been successful. The Colombian company has managed to establish bonds of friendship and trust with its peers in Central America and the south of the continent, thus managing to fulfill the responsibility acquired with its client and generating opportunities that allow a profit for both parties.
This case can serve as an example for there to be a new mentality and vision about the industry, those bonds of trust between colleagues are generated that allow not only greater profits for companies, but also the growth of the AV industry in general in the region.
