Chauvet illuminated the Lo Nuestro Awards

Chauvet iluminación Premios Lo Nuestro 2022

International. A collection of 145 Chauvet Professional luminaires gave the ideal tone to the opening of the night of February 24, where the public was in charge of recognizing, as is tradition in the Lo Nuestro Awards, the best of Latin music.

The British musician and renowned rock star, Sting, was in charge of opening the event with a presentation on the South Plaza stage outside the FTX Arena in Miami, where he performed in Spanish his single "For her love", a performance that had an intimate atmosphere, with acoustic guitar in hand and calm voice, but vibrant. Later inside the sports venue, the Lo Nuestro 2022 Awards, in what was its 34th version, awarded artists in 35 different categories.

Lighting design details

Color Strike M de ChauvetRené García and Chris Fernández, from Limitless Design, were in charge of designing the lighting of the stage where 4 presentations were given that afternoon. The solution was a collection of 145 CHAuvet Professional luminaires with IP65 rating, including the 54-color Color Strike M, technology supplied by 4Wall Entertainment. This particular choice of lights allowed the stage, angular and asymmetrical, to have a warm atmosphere.

However, 56 COLORado PXL Bar 16 and 12 luminaires from the PXL Bar 8 reference located on the platform, together with 23 COLORado Solo Batten units helped to create a framework aimed at focusing the horizon and the artists on stage. Thanks to the tilt and pixel mapping functions of the PLX slats, a wide variety of looks could be created, adding an additional level of interest to the show that was defined by weaving the city of Miami as the background of the stage.

As for those creative aspects, García and Fernández had to compensate for a relative lack of space in the background, because there were shots of Steadicam and other cameras for Univision's transmission of the event. This required them to create a lot of side lighting, with fixtures placed discreetly. Another requirement was that the lighting technology had to be vibrant for the live audience and take into account, at the same time, the parameters of video transmission, choosing camera-friendly colors and balancing the key lighting tracking points at 4800 Kelvin.

Finally, to all the technical and creative requirements was added the characteristic climate of the region, in that sense García indicated: "we recorded different segments for a few days in Miami, so the weather is always a concern. However, with the IP65-rated luminaires, our team was able to move on and concentrate on the creative aspect of our work without worrying about rain."
