Tips against electrocution at home

Latin America. One of the most common risks within the home is electrocution. For example, an old power outlet or a torn cable can trigger major consequences for our health or even our life. However, most accidents can be avoided if we take safety measures.

Schneider Electric has designed devices that ensure electrical safety, such as the Acti9 switchgear, a modular system that provides greater confidence and efficiency to electrical distribution installations. These are some solutions proposed by the company to eliminate the main risks of electrocution:

Power outlets:
Problem: they are the main source of electrocutions and, therefore, it is mandatory that all buildings comply with special security measures. However, the power outlets can crack and leave some wires visible.

Solution: It is necessary to choose a power outlet with a shutter, a system that closes access to the cables when the plug is disconnected. But, above all, we must remember that the best guarantee for safety is a renowned brand. This is not the time to save on quality.

Cables:
Problem: they are everywhere and, in some, they can be exposed to adverse conditions or end up crushed by furniture, knotted or damaged.

Solution: we must immediately replace any damaged wires and make sure that the electrical circuit is protected with a breaker or differential plug, which protects people from indirect contacts.

In the bathroom:
Problem: if in any corner of the house water and electricity can be found more easily, it is the bathroom. The use of small appliances such as dryers or razors increase the danger.

Solution: we must follow a fundamental rule: if any of these devices fall into the water, we should never pick it up directly. Before, we must disconnect it. However, the basis of all protection is to ensure that our installation complies with the Technical Regulation of Electrical Installations - RETIE, which in turn is based on different national and international technical standards.
