International. 1,218 Intel Shooting Star drones made history at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics with the first drone show that also set a new title in the Guinness World Records for "Most UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES in the air simultaneously." The world record flight was recorded in advance for the event.
At the start of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, spectators from around the world enjoyed an unprecedented light show during the opening ceremony, which surpassed Intel's previous record of 500 drones in the air simultaneously in Germany in 2016. Intel designed and developed custom animations for the opening ceremony and the functions of the nightly victory ceremony, including animations of different sports and various logos related to the Olympics, such as the formation of the iconic Olympic rings.
"The Olympics are an occasion where the sports and entertainment industries present unprecedented spectacles, so it was the ideal setting for Intel Shooting Star drones and our team to set their own record," said Natalie Cheung, general manager of Intel's drone light show team.

After the opening ceremony of PyeongChang 2018, Intel also unveiled a 30-second announcement showcasing the power of Intel Shooting Star drones and their unique entertainment possibilities.

Intel Shooting Star drones are a type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed specifically for entertainment purposes, equipped with LED lights that can create countless color combinations and can be easily programmed for any animation. The entire drone fleet is controlled by a pilot.
