InfoComm International changes its name, it is now Avixa

Latin America. In order to reflect the expansion of the Association's objectives to become a pillar of the industry, while acting as a catalyst for market growth, beyond what has traditionally been considered as professional AV, InfoComm International has done an internal reengineering that includes changing its name, now it will be called Avixa.

By adopting the name Avixa, Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association, the industry association, which acts as a commercial organization representing companies and a society of professionals, aims to reflect both what its members do and what they create for customers.

AVIXA Executive Director and CEO David Labuskes, CTS®, CAE, RCDD, highlighted that "This is an exciting time for our industry and for the advancement of av solutions in a wide range of customer experiences. Thanks to the innovative and creative efforts of so many members, partners and their customers, we have collectively grown far beyond what InfoComm International could do to promote AV around the world. AV experiences have become so ubiquitous, and have come to include so many more technologies, and touch so many personal and professional lives, that we feel compelled to embrace a new identity that more accurately reflects the excitement of this industry and welcomes a more diverse community of professionals."

In recent years, Avixa members have evolved to offer much more than just audiovisual products and systems. Their innovation and attention to customer needs has led to an industry of solution providers that use audiovisual technology to create results. Avixa's membership has grown to include experimental designers, content creators, IT companies and AV solution users across a growing section of markets.

Avixa was founded in 1939 as the National Association of Visual Education Dealers. In 1949, NAVED merged with the Allied Non-Theatrical Film Association to form the National Audio-Visual Association. NAVA changed its name to the International Communications Industries Association in 1983, which became InfoComm International in 2005.

The name change only affects the association. The fairs it holds in different countries will continue with its name, including InfoComm Show in the United States, which in 2018 will be held the first week of June in Las Vegas.

Finally, the CEO of Avixa stressed that "Organizations evolve. Avixa's core programs remain the same: training, certification, standards, community, market intelligence, trade shows, but the industry has changed in exciting ways and the opportunity to grow the av experience market is so great, that the industry-leading partnership changes with it."
