Mexico. Visual artists from various Latin American countries participated in the Mapping Challenge Latin America, an audiovisual project organized by Epson, which seeks to develop talent and visual culture in the region. Developers in Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil and Argentina participated in the competition. The traditional neighborhood of Coyoacán in Mexico was the first to exhibit the winning works of the competition.
Juan Campos, Senior Manager of Projection Products for Latin America at Epson, said: "Epson carried out a Latin American initiative in art in conjunction with our projectors. We created a mapping contest in eight of the main countries of the region, taking advantage of the launch of our Projectors of the Pro L line, with which we reached up to 25 thousand lumens. We look for emblematic places in each country: Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador and Brazil."
For the first screening of the winning works, the executive said: "We have six projectors of the Pro L 25 series. We sent calls through the internet to mapping creators and around 300 companies in Latin America participated. There was a lot of participation and here in Mexico we are starting with a great presence of spectators."
Campos, during the event, mentioned: "Our intention, in conjunction with our technology, is to expand this type of markets such as mapping and large events. The projectors of the PRO L line are high-tech with long-life panels, have up to 20 thousand hours of use without color decay, with rapid return on investment, in addition to weight and size performance, for example. These projectors weigh only 60 kilograms, which makes it easy to install and carry."
