Cybersecurity in IoT and how to secure connections

Mexico. Comstor, one of the leading wholesalers of Cisco technology in Mexico, offered interesting facts about cybersecurity in the Internet of Things and how to protect connections.

 
What are the concerns about personal data? 71% are concerned or very concerned with their credit card information, followed by 61% with passwords. While 56% are less concerned or not at all concerned about the history of the browser as well as personal photographs. And 47% with information about jobs or work emails.

What is the importance of IoT in the global cybersecurity market?
In 2015 it was 7%
2016 was 10%
2017 is 16%
2018 will be 23%
2019 30%
2020, 38%

It should be noted that 25% of attacks on companies will involve IoT connections in 2020, and only 10% of IT budgets for security will be invested in protection against this type of attack.

Finally, 71% of corporate cybersecurity professionals for IoT are not monitoring IoT devices in real time. Forrester estimates that more than 500,000 IoT devices will be affected in 2017. According to IDC forecasts, more than 75% of IoT device manufacturers will improve their cybersecurity and privacy settings by 2019.
