Datapath grows in Latam hand in hand with videowall

Latin America. It is increasingly common to use videowall in Latin America by companies of different sizes and segments to support their corporate communications and to generate greater interest in their products in their distribution channels.

This has become one of the most important items for the audiovisual industry, Greg Babbs, sales manager of the company Datapath, told AVI LATINOAMÉRICA. We took advantage of the launch of iolite to talk about the presence of the company and the development of technology for videowall in the region.

Users believe that videowalls are for large installations, is this statement correct?
Greg Babbs:
Video wall installations can range from 2 display devices to very large facilities such as the Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre in Singapore, which uses 664 LED screens. That said, in Datapath, we typically see that the average size of the video wall installation varies from 6 to 12 display devices; However, this can depend a lot on the installation environment and use case.

Do small and medium-sized businesses in Latin America use video walls?
Greg Babbs:
Absolutely. Traditionally, every time a new technology is introduced to a market, the associated costs are much higher. As the cost of display devices continues to decline, video walls have now reached an affordable level and have become one of the most important technologies for the audiovisual market in Latin America.

Actually, one of our fastest growing markets for our low-cost Datapath x4 wall display controller is Broadcast, where they are using video walls for TV shows or TV studio backgrounds. Our clients have completed successful projects in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay and Panama.

Datapath has a new product for small videowall, what is iolite?
Greg Babbs:
Datapath just launched the iolite brand, and I must say this is something we're all very excited about here at Datapath. Iolite is a new range of discrete videowall controllers for small and medium scale installations. In its first few weeks, it has been very well received by our existing channel partners in Latin America and I am pleased to announce that the first iolite installation in Latin America is planned for December in Brazil.

What is the market approach for iolite?
Greg Babbs:
In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in customer demand to move from traditional separate, standalone facilities to a complete end-to-end collaboration that provides interoperability and interconnection between control rooms, security centers, digital signage, crisis rooms, rooms, and more; They are manageable under a single user interface.

We have identified that to achieve this we needed a multi-slot videowall controller, compact, silent and autonomous, suitable for installation in corporate reception environments and boardrooms. It provides high levels of customization and flexibility, reliability and compatibility with the many video and audio sources that customers want to connect, as well as offering high levels of local application performance and video playback.

What are the main features of iolite?
Greg Babbs:
I guess our motto, "Small Size, Epic Performance" says a lot!
Iolite video wall controllers measure 176x250x320mm in size; But it features six PCI Express x8 Gen2 slots with increased slot spacing to reduce heat and power consumption.
Other features include built-in WiFi, eight USB ports, an Ethernet port, analog audio ports, and Windows Ultimate operating software, while there are options as to the choice of processor and SSD.

What is Datapath's presence in the Latin American audiovisual industry?
Greg Babbs:
Latin America is one of our fastest growing markets. Our sales in Latin America have increased rapidly year after year for more than 5 years; Even during this difficult economic and political period.

Datapath has some very interesting expansion plans for 2017 in Latin America, so it's a great time for companies to join our revolution and I personally invite all interested channel partners to contact me so we can discuss how they can join us on this journey!
