Latin America. At MEDICA 2016, Sony presented its latest comprehensive solutions that will enable more efficient diagnostics, surgeries and postoperative treatments.
Intelligent digital workflow in the operating room with NUCLeUS
Showcasing a whole new generation of integrated intelligent operating room workflow solutions, Sony indicated how medical staff can capture, share and display images recorded during operation across the hospital network, in Full HD and 4K.
The configuration of the operating room will be assisted by NUCLeUS, Sony's new video over IP platform, which offers comprehensive IP communication. Thanks to the new NU-IP40S or NU-IP40D IP converters, the platform improves the surgical workflow by integrating planning in the operating room, a predefined configuration by the surgeon and an instant collaboration function. Outside of the operating room, staff have access to surgical content and an online video-on-demand platform, so they can watch the content they need when they need it.
Improved visualization to make more accurate decisions
As part of its commitment to improving image display, Sony showcased its latest surgical monitors at the event. The new surgical monitors LMD-X550MT (55") and LMD-X310MT (31") combine 4K and 3D for the first time to deliver high levels of brightness, higher resolution and increased depth of field.
This will help surgeons make more informed decisions and improve training. These will be joined by the new Full HD monitors LMD-2735MD (27") and LMD-2435MD (24"), which offer superior image quality at an affordable price, designed for use with endoscopic camera systems in minimally invasive surgical interventions.
The revolutionary CLEDIS display solution that displays attractive images at any scale, will also have its place at the event. This large-scale presentation solution combines several energy-efficient display modules to create large flexible displays for use in operating rooms, training rooms or reception areas. Award-winning CLEDIS technology delivers incredibly realistic images with a wide range of vivid colors, vivid brightness and contrast, and a viewing angle of nearly 180 degrees.

Simple recording and sharing
Also introduced for the first time in Europe, the HVO-3300MT is Sony's latest 3D/2D HD video recorder. Smaller and lighter than the previous generation HVO-1000MD and HVO-3000MT video recorders, it records images from endoscopic systems and surgical microscopes in 3D/2D to your high-capacity internal hard drive.
It also allows you to store videos on up to two external multimedia devices simultaneously, such as a Blu-ray or DVD player, a USB stick or a hospital server, so you can easily share them, which is essential in hospital environments. In addition, its use has been simplified and now has a 3.5-inch (8.9 cm) color LCD screen to control input sources or review images, in addition to improved functions such as the possibility of recording in two channels to simultaneously capture the images of a connected endoscope and those of the operating room.
The HVO-3300MT is the next step in the launch this year of Sony's first 4K surgical recorder, the HVO-4000MT, which works in combination with Sony's content management system to offer a complete 4K solution to medical professionals.
Enhanced diagnostics with wireless printing
The compact UP-D898DC thermal printer was also presented as a novelty at the event. Ideal for use with digital ultrasound systems, it offers high-quality black and white A6 prints in less than two seconds to help make rapid diagnoses. In addition, it works with DC power supplies to be able to integrate it comfortably into a medical cart.
Also on display was the UPA-WU10* wireless printing system that enables wireless connection between Sony medical printers and compatible surgical endoscopes, ultrasound systems and other scanner modalities. The system replaces USB connections with conventional cables and is perfect for busy clinical environments, where modalities are constantly moved between different treatment rooms and operating rooms.
