MediaTek Announces IoT Kit Based on Amazon Web Services

Latin America. MediaTek Labs announced a MediaTek LinkIt ONE development kit and Grove IoT Starter Kit based on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Designed for developers, the new Starter Kit includes MediaTek LinkIt ONE, one of the most connected platforms in the world, and a wide variety of Seeed Studio's Grove sensors to help customers realize their Internet of Things (IoT) ideas. AWS provides a complete portfolio of cloud services and management, which will give LinkIt ONE developers fast, flexible, secure, and stable access to the cloud.

The MediaTek LinkIt ONE Software Development Kit (for Arduino) includes libraries that have been certified to run AWS IoT services, create software for the LinkIt ONE card using the popular Arduino IDE, and thus connect to one of the world's largest commercial cloud computing services. A wide range of Grove sensors easily connect to LinkIt ONE, allowing developers to securely store and manage all sensor data on their IoT devices using AWS in the cloud.

The Grove sensors included in this new IoT Starter Kit include a 3-axis digital accelerometer (±16g), loudness sensor, light sensor, humidity sensor, contact sensor, temperature sensor as well as a Grove Base Shield, an LED Bar and a 1.12-inch OLED display. AWS IoT services enable secure, bi-directional communication between Internet-connected devices (sensors, actuators, appliances, applications) and the cloud, using MQTT and HTTP.

"MediaTek Labs is committed to making IoT available to everyone through a simplified solution to help developers starting out with their first IoT projects," said Marc Naddell, VP of MediaTek Labs. "The new IoT Starter Kit contains everything a developer needs to create powerful concepts for IoT or wearables and bring their ideas to fruition."

With new Amazon IoT Cloud Services and the MediaTek LinkIt ONE development platform, manufacturers and developers will now have access to AWS cloud computing that is professional, robust, and highly secure. In addition, they will have a secure way to manage, deploy and analyze the millions of potential data points that will be created by the next wave of IoT devices.
