Latin America. Around the world, as the installation of intelligent lighting systems on facades of buildings and public roads grows, more and more awareness campaigns and commemorations are carried out through these systems using a particular color.
The last one took place in April, when public buildings and monuments were dressed in blue to draw attention to International Autism Awareness Day.
These types of campaigns have gained more and more strength and aroused the interest of the private sector as well as from local and national governments. In Latin America they have not been the exception and there are cases such as in Mexico, where they proposed to leave the blue color in the Chamber of Deputies throughout April to join it with the celebration of Children's Day at the end of the month.
This campaign is an initiative of the organization Autism Speaks, which began after the declaration of the second of April as a symbol date for people suffering from autism by the United Nations, UN.
Among other well-known buildings that joined the blue campaign are the Empire State Building in New York; in Mexico the Palace of Fine Arts and the Conaculta building, the Ministry of Economy and other buildings in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Tijuana and Cancun. In addition, the Cristo del Corcovado and the Teatro de las Amazonas, in Brazil, the Eiffel Tower in France; Niagara Falls in Canada and the Opera House in Australia.
Other campaigns around the world that use lighting are the fight against breast cancer in October and the fight against AIDS in December, with pink and red respectively.
