Mexico. A new development with LED lights that allows a saving in energy consumption of up to 90% compared to an incandescent bulb, is the result of research carried out in Mexico.
The Center for Research and Advanced Studies, Cinvestav, Zacatenco unit, with the support of the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal District, sought to optimize LED lighting by creating a more efficient and energy-efficient system.
According to Ciro Falcony Guajardo, in charge of the research, the result was achieved by converting the bluish light of the LEDs into white lights.
He indicated that these LEDs emit light in narrow regions of the chromatic spectrum, not appropriate for the human eye, so we synthesize materials capable of expanding this spectrum of light, nanomaterials, which integrate light-emitting centers with elements typical of rare earths.
He added that these lights are much greener because they eliminate the use of mercury. In addition, it already has two patents in process seeking in the future to produce these products for a massive market of homes.
