International. Considering the importance that e-paper technology represents for the visualization industry, the company Epson has announced the launch of platforms based on microcontrols and firmware for industrial applications.
This innovation aims to give users the possibility of combining these platforms with an electronic paper display so that they can develop their e-paper industrial products more easily, even lacking advanced information about the driving system of this technology.
The platforms consist of the S1C17F5, a microcontroller for small segmented displays and the S1D13T03, a synchronized microcontroller for small active-matrix displays. These systems allow the text on the displays to be thinner and easier to read like that of a printed paper, as well as reduce rotation and increase quality and productivity.
Similarly, platforms avoid the use of power while viewing an image, thus eliminating backlight, this allows devices to be lighter and thinner. The initiative is part of Epson's expansion plan, which in March began sending samples from a new medium-sized active-matrix microcontroller.
