The Japanese company gave in to blue disc technology and launched its first Blu-ray player, the BDX2000, during the IFA technology fair in Berlin.Toshiba highlighted the image and design quality of its device, supporting 1080p resolution and 24 fps. This player has been specially created to join, by means of an HDMI cable (High Definition Multimedia Interface), with the Regza LCD televisions that the company sells.

The BDX2000 includes the BD (Blu-ray Disc) 2.0 standard, which allows software updates, interactive content and movies over an Internet connection.
