Hospitality sector and its technological evolution

hospitality

Latin America. One of the most interesting and surprising capabilities of technological advances is to observe how services, solutions or products that are positioned in their beginnings as a luxury reserved for a few, end up becoming a fully extended good for the whole society, and in some cases as a first necessity, in just a few years.

Perhaps the most graphic example of this is the mobile phone. Although in the eighties it was used by the great cultural media such as cinema, television or literature, as a resource that indicated that a person had a certain economic level or social status, throughout the nineties we saw in these same media how its penetration in the different social groups was as progressive as constant until reaching the beginning of the XXI Century, where the mobile was no longer a work tool of certain professionals, but an object of daily use of people of any condition, age, gender and nationality.

And it is that telecommunications, due to its technological and social component, being a sector that facilitates what most defines us as a species, communication, are the reference par excellence to explain the evolution of our civilization. An evolution that has always gone hand in hand with technological development; presenting, currently, some advances that we could not have imagined 50 years ago.

The evolution of telecommunications in the hotel sector
The different types of accommodation, from the old inns to the modern hotels, have always been, due to their intrinsic characteristics, one of the sectors that have previously embraced any type of technology that facilitates long-distance communications.

From the years when postal mail on horseback, to the time when the technological vanguard consisted of the first telegraph or telephone lines, the hospitality sector has done everything possible to be in the first line of adoption of any product or service that would allow us to communicate and inform ourselves no matter where we were; these services are also one of the main factors when determining the quality of these establishments.

Thus, during the last century, arriving at a hotel and being able to enjoy television with channels from other countries of the world, was
considered a status symbol and a luxury service that placed this establishment as a benchmark in the sector.

1980 - The arrival of satellite television
With the passage of time and the greater implementation of satellite television, this service became common in homes, so, obviously, its presence in hotel rooms went from being an extra to a basic for both the companies in charge of its management and for its customers.

Aware of this, those companies dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of telecommunications solutions, such as Televes, soon undertook a business work focused on providing hotels around the world with products specifically designed so that they could offer the best service to their customers, and not only increase their turnover, but also their perception.

1990 and 2000 - Internet is incorporated in hotels
It is at this time, the nineties, when the new revolution in telecommunications, which would later be a disruptive agent of almost every facet of our society, was none other than the internet.

Thus, in a world in which almost all hotels and homes enjoyed or could already enjoy satellite television, the technology that made the difference in terms of telecommunications was the personal computer connected to the network.

It was the tireless work of telecommunications companies, coupled with an increasing demand from the population to be more interconnected, that made it possible for the internet to soon establish itself as a commodity of first necessity.

tv digital2005 to 2010 - Digital terrestrial television
Digital Terrestrial Television took advantage of all the advantages of digitalization, worth the redundancy, to offer a better quality of image and sound, a more stable signal and, above all, a greater number of channels with which to entertain and inform us, in what would be the first great technological revolution of television in several decades.

Its implementation in our homes would reach the point of being mandatory from a legislative point of view, making that, obviously, we could all enjoy these advantages with the acquisition of a new television, or a small decoder that we attach to the existing one.

This rapid technological adoption was only possible thanks to the tireless work of companies that, for years, investigated how to make these devices not only useful, but also accessible to all types of audiences. A phenomenon in which Televes stood out greatly, positioning itself as one of the leaders in this field thanks both to its investment in research and development, as well as for its manufacturing capacity and knowledge of a national market that during the last years had endowed with its characteristic orange antennas.

Proof of this is the very important investment made by the company in the implementation of a 100% robotic antenna factory to meet a market demand that was unbridled by the need for technological change, which allowed them to achieve a supply capacity of thousands of antennas per day.

During these three periods, and transversally, Televes continues to position itself as a benchmark entity in telecommunications in the hotel sector, denoting a great capacity for adaptation and innovation and reinforcing the entity as a leader in the market.

2010 to 2020+ - All multimedia services in our homes, anywhere
At present, the advance of digitalization is such that our homes have ceased to be generic homes minimally adapted to our requirements, to become places that respond completely to
our day-to-day needs.

This has meant that, for some time, nothing could match our house in terms of comfort and entertainment; which, for the first time in history, widened the difference in this aspect between our house and the hotels, to the detriment of the latter.

With the aim of offering users rooms in which they feel so comfortable, and enjoy an experience as personalized as in their homes, Televes has developed a series of services and products that
will allow its users to reach a hotel and configure, in a matter of seconds, all its multimedia services.

Its telecommunications infrastructure specially designed for the hospitality sector, headed by Arantia Cast, is specifically designed to operate in environments in that sector, where numerous users coexist, and where ensuring privacy between guests is a key responsibility of the hotel. Through ArantiaCast, streaming content on the hotel's TV will allow its users to feel at home.
