Smart homes: a trend that is growing by leaps and bounds

vta, domótica, Colombia. The COVID-19 pandemic has also encouraged a digital transformation in people's daily lives. Security cameras, motion sensors, smart lighting and access controls are just a few examples of how artificial intelligence allows us to get more out of the spaces we inhabit.

The numbers back it up. In the world, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the smart home device market has experienced a growth of 4.5% in the last year, representing 801.5 million units sold in 2020. In 2021, the market is expected to continue to grow and devices will become more common and accessible.

For Fernando Ararat, Marketing Director of VTA, this increase is due to the fact that "home automation is captivating people who seek comfort, energy efficiency and convenience through mobile devices and technological services. In addition, in the current context, they provide a sense of security, as they avoid contact with doors, ignition switches, among others. Additionally, our products offer great ease of installation and affordable prices to control your home from anywhere in the world."

Although in the Colombian market there are companies that offer similar products, VTA Smart Home has positioned itself as a leading company in the development, equipment and installation of smart home electronic devices. The company, in addition to offering devices and solutions with a perfect price-quality balance, has technology that allows you to have full control of lighting, the on and off of electronic devices, and alerts and notifications of everything that happens inside the home in a single device and with a single application.

The products also support voice assistants such as Google, Siri and Alexa.

"One of the great advantages of VTA Smart Home is that we cover the basic needs: entertainment and security, where even pets have their own feeding and surveillance system. Our portfolio, in fact, has 30 products segmented into seven categories: Lighting, video security, electrical, pets, alarms / sensors, controls and lifestyle, "adds Ararat.

Other benefits that can be perceived from the use of these technologies is the amenity they give to the different spaces of the home, driven by the change in people's habits towards more digital trends. In addition, as the VTA Marketing Director warns, "several studies indicate that a home has an additional valuation of 20% or 30% if it is completely intelligent."

If you are thinking of domotizing your home, these are three benefits that will motivate you to do it.

1. Take care of the environment
Home automation helps preserve natural resources, reducing energy consumption and controlling, monitoring and managing the devices that consume the most energy. This can be achieved, for example, by automatically turning off lights that are not in use or at a specific time if you are not in your home. Thus, people will be able to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint and increase the energy efficiency of the home.

2. Saving money
A great strategy to save money is to avoid using devices at dead times (night, early morning). By automating the home, people can, for example, turn off unused outlets, program heating or ventilation, and activate appliances at certain times only.

3. More security
Home security is a priority today. A good surveillance system has the ability to send images, alarms and messages in real time before any unusual event. Even if the person is out of town, the system will alert them and let them manipulate the equipment linked to the application.
